In cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade we are working on isolating extracellular vesicles (exosomes) from alternative liquid biopsy samples, namely pleural effusion, using an in-house developed chromatography method, and their characterization. The primary goal is to compare the efficiency and reliability of available and new isolation methods, in the context of clinical applicability of exosomes and their contents (nucleic acids and proteins) as potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in various types of cancer, primarily lung cancer.
